We Went From TWO to FIVE

Did Dave and I think we would start raising children again, in our 50's? Not really. But, last December, we were asked if our three grandchildren could come live with us. They were aged 10, 12 and 14.

The reality is, we could have said, "No, we can't take them". What would have happened to them if we had? ... Thankfully, we will never know!

We were granted guardianship of all three in February. Those "pieces of paper" has given each one of the kids a sense of "security and belonging".

Dave and I both knew it was going to be a major lifestyle change. And, it has been. For ALL of us. But, everything is finally starting to feel somewhat "normal".

Taking grandchildren into your home on a permanent basis means you can't be a "normal" grandparent. It's no longer "just fun stuff ". Your a "parent" ... again.

But, there is "perks" that makes it all worth while! We know the kids are safe and cared for. And, we watch them "grow" everyday, in so many positive ways!

:)
